Work-related stress is a major cause of occupational ill health, poor productivity and human error. Mental health and wellness of employees has an impact on performance, productivity and overall organisation profitability. This online short course explores the meaning, importance and management of corporate mental health, drawing on the rich insights from a panel of experts and thought leaders at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.

This course aims to inform organisational leadership about aspects of mental health and wellness. This enables leaders to formulate supportive approaches to manage mental health issues and implement preventative measures to limit corporate mental health threats.

Over the course of three weeks, you will be equipped to:

  • Outline the aspects and importance of mental health and wellness in the workplace
  • Analyse the prevalence, impact and prevention of the mental health threats known as ‘invisible disabilities’ in your workplace
  • Present ethical, financial and legal reasons why organisations and leaders should pay attention to mental health
  • Recommend preventative measures and supportive approaches to manage mental health and wellness in the workplace

  • Matric Certificate or equivalent
  • Good grasp of English (reading, writing and speaking)
  • Basic computer and internet skills.
